Rob Sheppard and the Minncraft Boatworks Connection

The Blue Water Girl is owned by Rob Sheppard, founder of Minncraft Boatworks. Rob, who has a lifelong affinity for boats, boatbuilding and yacht retrofitting and restoration has a lifelong love of all things maritime. His new ownership of Blue Water Girl (BWG) is rooted in serendipity.

The Post 46 Sportfish yacht has been under his expert care for two years for custom restoration projects by Minncraft Boatworks during which he fell for her gorgeous lines, impressive offshore performance, and state-of-the-art appointments. When the previous owner of BWG first offered to sell charter yacht to Rob he said no. Without a seasoned local captain, he thought, how would he even begin the business plan for a winning productive offshore charter venture. But, a few months later when the Minncraft Boatworks founder was talking with friend Capt. Deb Deyo he realized the tides were about to turn on his ‘back-of-mind vision’ for a premier Islamorada offshore sportfishing charter business. And the rest, as they say, “is history.”

Love of the sea...

Runs in the family

Fun Fact: Capt. Deb Deyo comes from a long line of mariners.

Her father was an avid angler and instilled in his daughter, Deb, respect for the water and all its creatures, a strong work ethic and to live each day with both determination and kindness. Her great grandfather was a Navy mariner; Vice Admiral Morton L. Deyo. In fact, a warship bears his name.

USS Deyo (DD-989), a Spruance-class destroyer, was a ship of the United States Navy named for Vice Admiral Morton L. Deyo (1887–1973), a veteran destroyer man and distinguished naval gunfire support task force commander of World War II. He was awarded three medals of personal honor, the Distinguished Service Medal (Navy), and the Legion of Merit with Gold Star.
